Pride Journals (2025)
Outside of June, Pride journals remain one of the most popular things that clients order. I have been lucky enough to create some cool custom books for gift-givers, radio hosts, writers, and a local university has placed several large orders. I make a lot of these, and I love it! For this fourth year of creating special books for Pride month, I decided to go with something different from all of the previous years. For one, the standard size is A5, rather than pocket. And I went with a different binding this time.
This year, I wanted to use Belgian binder Anne Goy’s Criss-Cross binding (BKA the Secret Belgian Binding), but the spine is closed on this design. After a bunch of experiments (some successful, some, well…), I came up with measurements which allowed me to construct a stable and durable book that opens easily, with stiff board covers -- and that shows off the signature wrappers. The exposed thread is a rainbow variegated cord made of 100% hemp fibers, and I buffed a light layer of all natural polish to give the boards protection from coffee, scuffs, and glitter.
At the end of June, I’ll donate a portion of sales from everything in my shop, not just Pride journals, to The Trevor Project. As a kid who grew up in the bi-closet and a parent of a trans/queer child, I can’t think of any organization I’d rather support financially these days.
If you have other colors you’d like to see, different sizes, cover materials, or colors, drop me a line to get started on a custom version. Pricing starts at the same point as these books!
***Free giftwrapping is available if you drop me a note with your order!***
